Day 28 of Pinterest ~ Cookie Exchange

Welcome to Day 28 of

As we wind down the month-long adventure of Pinterest, I’m excited to share a few dessert recipes that I’ve found and now considering for an upcoming cookie exchange. My book club meets next Saturday for our regular monthly gathering and book discussion, but we’re adding a potluck luncheon and cookie exchange for the holiday season. Lord willing, I will also bake a batch (or two) of mini-cupcakes for everyone to enjoy as we eat and discuss this month’s read: The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. Which, by the way, is an excellent book and I highly recommend it.

Do you have a favorite cookie recipe that you always use for holidays or special occasions? Do you participate in a cookie exchange?

Simply click the links below for recipes ….

1.       Brownie Cookies by Pure and Yummy

2.      White Chocolate Cherry Shortbread Cookies by Better Homes and Gardens

3.      Molasses Spice Cookies by Gonna Want Seconds

4.      Orange Zested Cookies with Sweet Orange Glaze by Stephanie’s Kitchen

5.      Red Velvet Shortbread Cookies by Recipe Girl

6.      White Chocolate Peppermint Cupcakes

I can say for certain that the orange zest cookies are delicious. I made a batch last weekend when I was supposed to be packing for our trip to KY and cleaning the house. I eventually finished baking and packed our necessities, but not before tucking a few of those cookies in my carry-on bag. Fortunately, TSA security at DFW Airport did not take them away. Lucky for me, they tasted even better at 37,000 feet altitude!!!!!!!

Do you participate in a cookie exchange?

Do you have a favorite, or tried-and-true, cookie recipe?

Day 26 of Pinterest ~ Small Business Saturday

My sincere apologies for yesterday’s mishap …… I scheduled blog posts to automatically publish while Husband and I were visiting my family in KY but I forgot to hit the “schedule” button on November 25. Oh well. I’ll share those pins before the end of the month. Besides, all y’all were probably out shopping and didn’t have time to visit my lil’ol’blog anyhow …….. Happy Small Business Saturday Shopping to ya!!!!!!!

It’s Day 26 of

I’m observing Small Business Saturday with my own little tribute and shout-out to some of my favorite small businesses. I’ve included links to their websites in hopes that you will visit and tell them Nicole @ 27 & Counting sent you. You get an extra pat on the back if you make a purchase!

Most of you have read about my love of The Art Barn Studio, but on Small Business Saturday I’m sharing an extra dose of love to my artistic friends. Hilary and her crew of talented artists and crafters help customers make unique, personalized, and very creative pieces. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to stop by The Art Barn Studio, and be sure to visit their updated website. ANYBODY can create at The Art Barn, believe me ….. if I can do it, you can do it.

Custom Tiles for Newlywed Couple

Jan at The Diamond E is super talented. Visit her Etsy store here. I asked Jan for a unique gift for the Steele wedding and she surpassed all my expectations with this custom decorative tile and a set of tile coasters with the couples’ names, wedding date, and initials. It was the perfect wedding gift ~ unique and personal.

Jan is extremely talented and her business ventures are continually expanding into photography and handmade gifts. Please visit her blog and Etsy shop to learn more.

Custom Woodcrafted Sign by The Wood Shop

Heath and Brandy Sutton created The Wood Shop because they were bored. NOT!!! Actually, these are two of the busiet people I know. Besides their day jobs, they also have two young girls, a herd of adorable Bloodhounds, and now a custom wood shop. They can turn an ordinary piece of lumber into art. In fact, they made the sign above for my Dad’s 60th surprise birthday party this past July. Dad has it proudly displayed in the shop where all the gardening festivities (canning, pea hullin’, corn shuckin’) take place.

If you ever find yourself within a gabillion miles of Nashville, TN and in need of a kicka$$ photography …… lyrics to a song ……. or a restaurant recommendation …… or driving directions ……. or just a sweet voice to say “HEY GIRLLLLLL”, talk to Jamie at Fnkybee Photography.

Jamie rocks my world (she’ll rock yours too) with her “awesome-sauce.” Contact her and be sure to tell her that I sent ya. To visit Jamie’s blog, simply click here.

What’s a small business in your area that is worth promoting?

Day 24 of Pinterest ~ HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my blog readers! I’m so thankful to all of you who continue visiting this blog and reading my nonsense!

Let’s continue this Pinterest adventure with Day 24 …….

Happy Turkey Day, y’all!!!!

I love fall colors.

They’re warm, inviting, and cozy.

Now those are some adorable Pilgrim Pooches!!!!

Thank God for family.

Mine’s a crazy bunch, but a lovely bunch. I’m thankful for each and every one of them.

What are YOU thankful for today?

Day 23 of Pinterest ~ Home Sweet Home

Day 23 of  …….

……. is for my parents, LOVE Y’ALL!!!!

My Dad said this ALL THE TIME!!!!

Supporting KY wineries!

Home is where the heart is.

My heart’s in Kentucky.

Day 22 of Pinterest ~ Party with Jason Aldean

It’s Day 22 of

Because I’m in my hometown in Kentucky.

Because I have an accent.

Because I love country music and Jason Aldean.

Sweet Baby Jesus. Did I mention how much I adore this country cutie Jason Aldean? I’d take a ride on his big green tractor anyday.

Ahem, let’s continue this blog post.

Around these parts, there’s always something to celebrate. Always a reason to party. Always a need to be with loved ones.

And, because if people are gathered around ……. you need a cooler full of ice cold drinks.

And, if you have a cooler with drinks, you need some country music playin’.

I think we can all agree that I am 100-percent, certified, pure bred country.

I just defined myself as if explaining cattle at the sale barn. Geesh.

I mentioned earlier that I love Jason Aldean, right?

I am head-over-heels in LOVE with his latest song, “Tattoos On This Town.” It doesn’t matter where I go, what I’m doing, or who I’m with, my hometown is in my heart and always with me. I will never have the ba…..kahoonies to get a tattoo (I’m squeamish with blood and faint when I see needles), but memories are forever stamped in my soul.

Day 21 of Pinterest ~ You can bet your Bluegrass

Welcome to Day 21 of

This post is extra special. Why? Because I said so.

Actually, by the time most of you get around to reading this post, Husband and I will be on our way to DFW Airport to hop on a little puddle-jumper air-o-plane en route to Ken-Tuck-EEEEE.

Please excuse my exaggerated accent …… I’s gots to practice fore I git thar!!!!!!!

I told Husband that I really needed this necklace and pendant. His response, “tell Santa.”

Wait, I’m very confused.

There’s nothing better than a cool, crisp, foggy morning in Kentucky.

This “pin” makes me laugh out loud because it’s so true. When somebody asks me where I’m from, I don’t hesitate with “Webster County.” This Kentucky-ism comes naturally. I represent the WebCo proudly ……. including the hoodie sweatshirt from Webster County High School.

Nothing screams Louisville, Kentucky more than the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs. Unfortunately, I won’t have time to visit this Kentucky icon. In years past, my family has always gone to Churchill Downs the day after Thanksgiving (otherwise known as Black Friday) to watch the last live races of the season. Husband and I will miss out on this standing tradition as we’re flying back to Texas next Friday.

Four words ……… Aunt. Kathy’s. Bourbon. Slush.

Second only to sweet tea, my “other” favorite beverage (the adult variety) is Aunt Kathy’s bourbon slush. It’s the only time I drink bourbon. It’s a delicious (dangerous!) mix of lemonade, tea, ginger ale or Sprite, and grenadine. It doesn’t matter if its hot and humid or frigid and cold, it’s always a good time for bourbon slush!

It’s been a long, long time since I was actually in Kentucky during college basketball season. I’m really looking forward to watching the UK game this week.

Which reminds me, SANTA, will you bring me a new UK t-shirt or hoodie sweatshirt? Please? Thank you.

Day 20 of Pinterest ~ Cupcakes Galore!

I made four dozen mini-cupcakes yesterday (mostly for a youth bake sale at church) along with a cookie recipe I’ll share later. The more I use my Babycakes Mini Cupcake Maker from Select Brands ~ thank you Love From The Oven~ the more I love it! I definitely suggest it for anybody that enjoys baking, especially with the approaching holidays. If you have someone on your list who “has everything,” buy them a Babycakes.

It’s Day 20 of ……

Go ahead, pull on your fat pants. You’re gonna need them. Just looking at these pictures are packing on the pounds.

Because I’m so nice and not only want to share these pictures with you, but I’ve included a link to the recipe as well from each blog or source. Go ahead, bake a batch right now. Enjoy!

Cupcakes In A Cone ~ Love From The Oven

Cupcakes baked in an ice cream cone? Ab-so-flippin-lutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How genius is this? My friend Christy, baker-exordinaire at Love From The Oven, created these little cuties from regular and miniature ice cream cones. Seriously, she poured the batter right in there and VIOLA! you have a cupcake in a cone. Sweet Baby Jesus.

Peanut Butter Cupcakes ~ Hoosier Homemade

These peanut butter cupcakes from Hoosier Homemade look absolutely delicious. I know a particular Somebody that would adore a few (or 20) of these!  Heck, I’d like to have a few of these myself. The mini Reese’s cup on top just sets it off. I’m in love.

Margarita Cupcake ~ Goodbye Gluten

Holy Mother of Tacos!!!!!!!! Does it get any better than a cupcake with alcohol? I’m not a tequila fan, but I definitely want to try these ~ thank you Goodbye Gluten for the Margarita Cupcake recipe! I like the idea of sprinkling of sugar on the edge to mimic the rim of a margarita glass. However, I personally believe everything sweet needs something salty ….. so I would use salt instead. But just a little.

White Chocolate Peppermint ~ Bake Your Heart Out

I love white chocolate. Wait, let me rephrase that. I used to love it. Since my milk allergy diagnosis, I have yet to find a variation of white chocolate made WITHOUT milk. But that doesn’t mean I don’t drool over my laptop when I see a recipe like this for White Chocolate Peppermint Cupcakes from Bake Your Heart Out. I might surprise the ladies at book club with a batch of these for our next gathering. I think peppermint is holiday-ish, don’t you think?

Tiramsu Cupcake ~ Le Petrin

There is a lady that would probably squeal in delight and kiss my cheek if I presented her with a Tiramsu Cupcake from Le Petrin. This is her favorite dessert. Ever. Who knew that you could also make the Italian dessert in cupcake fashion?  I think these are adorable. And classy. And I want one. Or four.

Alright, I’m hungry now.

Do you have a favorite dessert?
